What you'll practice.

Curriculum
7 exercises
  1. 01EQ frequencyIdentify which frequency band was boosted.
  2. 02Compressor attackDistinguish fast and slow attack times under transients.
  3. 03Compressor releaseIdentify how a compressor releases after gain reduction.
  4. 04Stereo imageDetect changes in stereo width and spatial imaging.
  5. 05PhaseSpot the comb-filter-clean version among three options.
  6. 06Low-end cleanupMatch a high-pass filter cutoff by ear.
  7. 07Loudness matchingMatch the loudness of two different tracks by ear.

How the practice works.

  1. Short and deliberate beats long and unfocused.

Ten focused minutes a day compounds faster than an hour every other weekend.

  2. Real mixes, not isolated tones.

Every exercise uses full musical material: drums, vocals, full bands.

  3. Submit, then listen.

The audition step (hearing your guess against the target on the same source) is where ears get sharper. Feedback without listening is just trivia.

Questions.

How quickly will I notice a difference?
Critical listening improves gradually with consistent practice. Most people notice they're hearing finer EQ moves within a few weeks of daily training. Stereo and phase work tends to be harder and takes longer. Your starting point and time per session matter more than calendar weeks.
Will my mixes actually get better?
Critical listening is one input to mixing well. It won't replace experience, taste, or knowing your monitors. The gap between hobbyist and pro ears narrows with deliberate practice, and that's what you'd be doing here.
Do I need to be an audio engineer to use this?
No. If you make music and care about how it sounds, the practice will help. Most people who train here are producers, songwriters, and musicians who self-mix, not full-time engineers.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Desktop is more comfortable for the games that require precise clicks on a canvas (EQ frequency, low-end cleanup), but everything works on a phone.
Can I cancel Pro anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account page; your access stays through the end of your current billing period and reverts to Free after that.
